One of the unique ingredients contained in Naked Minerals™ makeup is Neroli oil.
What exactly is Neroli oil and why is it such a valuable ingredient in modern perfumes and skin cremes?
The name itself is thought to have originated from the Italian princess, Anne-Marie Orsini (the Princess of Nerola) who applied the oil as a perfume and used it to scent her bathwater.
Neroli oil is derived from the blossom of the bitter orange tree, harvested largely from northern Africa. The blossoms are gathered by hand in the late spring. It requires some five hundred to one thousand pounds of orange blossoms to make just one pound of Neroli oil. That, plus the fact that only a few tons are produced annually, explains its high cost.
One of its chief features is the fact that it is a non-toxic and non-irritant.*
Neroli oil is commonly used both in massage and aromatherapy because it is believed to have a calming influence on the body and mind.
As far as the skin is concerned, Neroli oil is thought to aid in rejuvenating the skin and when applied as a lotion or crème, to aid in the prevention of scar tissue, broken capillaries and stretch marks. Due to the fact that Neroli oil is very gentle, it can be used by women with sensitive or dry skin and it is for these reasons that it makes such a wonderful addition to the composition of Naked Minerals™ makeup.*
